NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POLICE OFFICER EXAM

Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner officially kicked-off the Yonkers Police recruitment campaign for the upcoming Police Officer exam. Residents considering a career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply. The exam is scheduled for December 2nd, 2017. The filing period closes October 2nd, 2017. Exam announcement and applications can be downloaded at joinYPD.com.

Police Commissioner Charles Gardner stated, “The Yonkers Police Department is staffed by some of the finest police officers in the nation; we value our relationship with the community we serve, and it is our desire that the Department is a reflection of that community. I encourage all residents with an interest in law enforcement to apply.”

Paper applications may be picked up at the following locations:

·         Department of Civil Service, 1 Larkin Center - 2nd Floor, Yonkers, NY 10701 Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., (914) 377-6092

·         Records Division, YPD Headquarters, 104 South Broadway, 2nd Floor, Yonkers, NY 10701 (Cacace Justice Center), between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

·         Police Recruitment Headquarters, (YPD Community Affairs Division) 36 Radford Street, Yonkers, NY 10705 Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., (914) 377-7375.

The following precincts will also have applications available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

·         First Precinct: 730 E. Grassy Sprain Road, Yonkers, NY 10710 – (914) 377-7477

·         Second Precinct: 441 Central Park Ave., Yonkers, NY 10704 – (914) 377-7452

·         Third Precinct: 435 Riverdale Ave., Yonkers, NY 10705 – (914) 377-7427

·         Fourth Precinct: 53 Shonnard Pl., Yonkers, NY 10703 – (914) 377-7402

Test preparation courses will be offered for free to all Yonkers residents who apply for the examination - additional information to follow at a later date.
