       Homicide Unit Investigation  

On October 3, 2017, at approximately 2:06 a.m., District Four officers responded to the 500 block of Oak Street to investigate a report of two people shot.  First responders located the victims inside 523 Oak Street.  The first victim was transported to University Hospital and remains in critical condition.  The second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The deceased victim has been identified as Mike Carpenter, a male black born 6/27/1980.    The name of the surviving victim will not be released.  There is no suspect information to release at this time.

***UPDATE***

On October 4, 2017, with assistance from the Fugitive Apprehension Squad, Homicide Detectives arrested Michael Fitzgerald (a male black born 5/21/1965) and charged him with one count of murder and one count of felonious assault.
